Baron

For 50 years, Sunup Ranch has selected a number of their outcross sires from the Pitzer Ranch. In 1999, we bought a Mr Baron Red weanling prospect, Watch Red Sunup. We were attracted to the performance qualities of the Mr Baron Red horses, but in particular we liked their tractable temperaments. In addition, we had many daughters from our sons of Two Eyed Jack, and noted the Baron Reds crossed well on the TEJ daughters.

We were particularly drawn to the bottom side of this horse, whose dam Watch Jo Peggy was an own daughter of Watch Joe Jack. We knew this mare had quite a production record -- she was the dam of ID Watch, who the Pitzer Ranch had selected to stand at stud.

Baron, as we call him, is likely one of the few sons of Mr Baron Red still siring. In the last couple of years we have been keeping his daughters to join our mare herd.
